Digital asset educational offerings are growing fast in Europe. The Education chapter of DL Research’s State of Digital Assets in Europe report highlights efforts by European universities and the private sector to prepare the next generation of digital asset employees for an increasingly competitive graduate job market.

Open-source blockchain data platforms and massive open online courses are becoming more common in Europe, underscoring a strong DIY culture at the heart of the digital assets community. But formal, degree- and certificate-granting programmes are also on the rise.

The private sector has taken a leading role in education efforts, with blue chip companies and major crypto players moving to partner with universities and industry leaders. The goal is to align skill sets with labour market needs. Elite universities across the continent are also increasingly incorporating digital assets education into various bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes.

The Education chapter features expert commentary from Roman Beck, a professor at the IT University of Copenhagen, and Head of the European Blockchain Center. Beck discusses the evolution of blockchain education programmes offered by universities, arguing that a lack of standardised qualifications makes it difficult to choose the right programme for digital asset education. Post-secondary institutions can help mitigate the problem, he says.
